Pranayama

Welcome to my page which hopefully provides a little more insight into what to expect from a pranayama class. The typical length would be a 30-minute Pranayama class that is designed to help you improve your breath awareness, regulate your breathing patterns, and reduce stress and anxiety. If you're new to Pranayama or have never tried a class before, you might be wondering what to expect from a typical session.

Pranayama is the practice of conscious breathing, which involves paying attention to the quality, rhythm, and depth of your breath. This class is suitable for all levels, including beginners, and I will guide you through each technique, explaining the benefits and precautions.

The class begins with a short centring practice, which involves sitting in a comfortable position and focusing your attention on your breath. This helps to calm your mind and bring you into the present moment.

The main part of the class is dedicated to different Pranayama techniques, such as alternate nostril breathing, belly breathing, or Kapalabhati. Each technique is practised for a few minutes before moving on to the next one. You'll be encouraged to practice at your own pace and modify the techniques as needed.

Throughout the class,  I will remind you to breathe deeply and smoothly, which helps to oxygenate your body and calm your nervous system. This can be especially helpful for reducing stress and anxiety, as well as improving your concentration and focus.

Towards the end of the class, you'll be guided through a short relaxation practice, which allows your body and mind to fully rest and rejuvenate. This may include a body scan meditation or a visualisation practice.

Finally, the class ends with a few minutes of silence, where you can reflect on your experience and notice any changes in your breath, body, and mind.

Overall, our 30-minute Pranayama class is a wonderful way to improve your breath awareness and reduce stress and anxiety. Whether you're looking to enhance your yoga practice, improve your overall health, or simply enjoy a moment of peace and calm, our class is the perfect place to start.
